sound installation that explores the sound ecologies of the Canarian archipelago from an expanded, embodied and deep listening, attentive to the vitality of life forms and more-than-human materialities. The project arises from a process of artistic research and fieldwork in seven of the islands, including recordings made in the exclusion zone during the eruption of the Tajogaite volcano on La Palma. <\/p>\n Using multiple ways of listening and phonographic techniques that traverse air, water, soil and other sensitive materialities, the work enters into a vibrant web of matter and energy, attending to that which is located on the margins of perception and attention. Thus unfolds a sound flow where the expressions of the wind, the ocean, the earth, the vegetation, various animal species and human action are intertwined. <\/p>\n The installation presents a spatial sound composition, without images, which is conceived as a shared space of intimate and prolonged listening, where each person is invited to actively participate through their listening, understood as a form of presence and co-creation.<\/p>\n Listening is considered here as a relational, sensorial and potentially transformative practice: a form of active and situated attention that integrates the bodily, the mental and the affective.<\/p>\n Beyond conventional approaches to the “soundscape” and idealized visions of “nature”, TIBATAJE adopts listening as a creative, political and ecological act, aimed at resisting dominant ways of relating to the world and cultivating less anthropocentric ways of feeling, thinking and inhabiting.<\/p>\n TIBATAJE is presented for the first time, in an unprecedented way, as part of a joint co-production between the Festival de M\u00fasica Visual de Lanzarote and the Festival Contempor\u00e1neo del Festival Internacional de M\u00fasica de Canarias.<\/p>\n Collaboration in artistic research and production work: Palma E. research and electronic music project from Gran Canaria, Spain. The duo is formed by H\u00e9ctor Matacherry<\/strong> (aka Anhelo) and Santi P\u00e9rez<\/strong> (aka Svesda). <\/p>\n Alizulh means joy and is how the Phoenicians baptized the Canary Islands upon their arrival. It is characterized by exploring electronic and electroacoustic sonorities<\/strong>, fusing them with organic and everyday elements. They incorporate sounds from everyday life and their immediate environment, creating ethereal and often evocative soundscapes. They use synthesizers and field recordings as main components, seeking to convey emotions and narratives through the musical atmosphere. <\/p>\n Emerged in the summer of 2022, ALIZULH has already presented its proposal in various cultural spaces in Gran Canaria and has released singles such as “In Your Arms” and “El Viento en su Boca”, the latter in collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Madkatala. the 2017 edition of this Festival.<\/p>\n Known for its approach closer to an audiovisual art installation<\/strong> or film essay<\/strong> than a traditional narrative, this film was released in 2020, two years after his death, and is his only feature film as a director.<\/p>\n Loosely based on the science fiction novel of the same name by Olaf Stapledon (1930), the film is a profound meditation on evolution, decay and the ultimate fate of humanity<\/strong>, two billion years in the future. The central premise is a message that the last human civilization, on the brink of extinction in the distant future, sends to humanity in the present. <\/p>\n “The Last and First Men” is a work for deep listening and contemplation<\/strong>. His compositions, often born of improvisation, unfold slowly, revealing layers of deep textures, ethereal drones and the soulful presence of instruments such as piano (his lead instrument), cello, double bass and, on occasion, celestial choirs. <\/p>\n Live, Shida Shahabi’s music is transformed into an immersive experience. It is not a concert for noise, but for deep listening and contemplation<\/strong>. Her pieces, with extended durations, invite the audience to let themselves be carried away by the tides of sound, to immerse themselves in atmospheres that can be melancholic, hopeful or of desolate beauty. It is a unique opportunity to experience the subtlety and emotional strength of one of the most singular voices in contemporary music, in an evening where every note and every silence has a purpose and a profound impact. <\/p>\n ——-<\/p>\n Shida Shahabi, born in 1989, developed an early interest in music, which she complemented with art studies at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm from 2009. After graduating, she worked as a freelance musician and began composing for dance, film, theater and art. <\/p>\n His debut album, “Homes” (2018)<\/strong>, was critically acclaimed, followed by the EP “Shifts” and various collaborations, including a reinterpretation of Beethoven. He has also composed soundtracks for short films such as “Lake on Fire” (2020) and “Alvaret” (2021), as well as for the feature films “Lovely, Dark and Deep” (2023)<\/strong> and the award-winning “Falcon Lake” (2022)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n In 2023, he released his second album, “Living Circle”<\/strong>, which combines classical and electronic elements to create atmospheric compositions. That same year, he composed the music for Halla Olafsd\u00f3ttir’s dance piece “Sylph”. Doreste. Born as a natural evolution after her time with Bel Bee Bee, the project makes its way between the author’s electronic music and the most intimate song.
