Convento de Santo Domingo
Saturday 19th October at 20.30
Trondheim Voices is an innovative Norwegian vocal improvisation group consisting of twelve solo singers, who, since 2001, have worked on projects that go beyond the conventional limitations and format of a vocal performance, constantly searching for new ways for singers, the audience, the surroundings and the new technologies to interact.
In Rooms & Rituals, the vocal technique of each of the singers allows for the creation of broad sound landscapes brimming with subtle sounds, background beats and truly stunning choir sounds. Along with the use of their exclusive sound-effect devices, designed by Asle Karstad, that allow each singer to freely move around the room, setting an enveloping vibe and breaking with conventional stages. Hence providing the audience with a unique sound experience where both the singers and the audience are on an ongoing discovery journey.
In the repertoire, free improvisation has a key role combined with original compositions written by the members of the group, as well as pieces by composers such as Jon Balke, Ståle Storløkken and Christian Wallumrød.
